ChatGPT answers API: what ChatGPT tells buyers in your niche
Ask ChatGPT what your buyers ask. We save the answer, the web search ChatGPT ran and up to 12 sources, so you can see which products it recommends and where it got them.

What one ChatGPT call returns
The ChatGPT answers API sends one question to ChatGPT and saves the result as one row: the full answer, the model that wrote it, the search ChatGPT ran on the web, and up to 12 sources with title, site name and date. It works as a ChatGPT brand mention tracker you pay per question: €0.00375 each, or €3.75 per 1,000. You pay from a wallet with no subscription, and all our other sources are priced on the all data APIs and prices page. Save your questions once, and every answer is stored in your Scrapewise account for the table, Excel, your AI assistant or the API.
On 16 September 2026 we asked for the best budget wireless earbuds of 2026, three picks with prices. ChatGPT searched the web for 'best budget wireless earbuds 2026 prices' and recommended the Anker Soundcore Space A40, CMF Buds 2 and EarFun Air Pro 4. Most of its reasons pointed back to RTINGS.com and SoundGuys. If you sell earbuds, we'd start with those two review sites.
All five of our test questions came back with 12 sources each. For Amazon FBA profit margins, the first source ChatGPT listed was Amazon's own seller blog, followed by FBA blogs and seller tools. Put the sources from all your questions in one column and you have the list of sites that shape ChatGPT's answers in your niche.
This page is built around product recommendations. If you also want Google's assistant, the Gemini answers API returns the same kind of row at the same price per question.
Who tracks ChatGPT answers
Amazon and Walmart sellers
Ask 'best [product] under $50' for your category and log which brands ChatGPT names. When a competitor shows up and you don't, its sources usually show why.
Shopify and direct-to-consumer brands
Track 50 buyer questions a month and count your share of the answers. That's 50 calls, and it costs less than €0.20.
App makers
Ask ChatGPT about your app by name, and about the best apps for the job your app does. Flag answers with outdated pricing or negative wording.
Marketing agencies
Run the same question set for each client every month and hand over the answers, sources and mention counts, with no tool subscription to pass on.
How it works
Send a plain question
Write it the way a buyer would. Asking for 'three picks with prices' gets you a list you can compare from week to week.
Save it as a scheduled job
Each run adds dated rows, so answers from different weeks sit side by side. New accounts get 5 free requests. Rows are kept for 90 days.
Work with the rows
Filter answers for brand names in the table or Excel, pull rows by API, or ask your own AI assistant: 'which brands did ChatGPT recommend instead of mine this week?'
Set it up once. The data keeps coming.
Save your search once and it runs by itself. Every run lands in your own Scrapewise database, and you pick how to read it.
Set it up once
Add your ASINs, keywords, places or apps to a scraper in the web app. New accounts get 5 free requests.
Runs on your schedule
Pick daily, weekly on the days you choose, every few days, or the first or last day of the month. Scheduled runs start at night, European time. Need it more often? Start runs from your own code.
Saved in your database
Each run adds dated rows, so this week sits next to last week. Rows are kept for 90 days.
Use it your way
Open the table in the web app and download the latest run as an Excel file. Ask your own AI assistant about it. Or pull the rows into your code with an API key.
Ask your AI assistant about your own data
Connect Claude Desktop, Claude Code or another MCP app with a read-only key. The assistant reads the rows you've already collected, at no extra cost on Scrapewise. With a full-access key it can start a run for you too.
- Which of my ASINs lost the Buy Box this week?
- Which competitor cut prices the most since Monday?
- Show the keywords where I dropped out of the top 10.
What you send and what you get back
You send one question. You get back one row with the answer in Markdown, the model name, ChatGPT's own search query and up to 12 sources.

A few practical benchmarks: - **10% net margin:** risky. A small PPC increase, fee change, or supplier cost increase can erase profit. ([Northstar Financial Advisory](https://nstarfinance.com/resources/amazon-fba-fees-true-profit?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) - **15–20% net margin:** generally workable for a scalable FBA product. ([Nova Analytics](https://novadata.io/resources/answers/what-is-a-good-net-profit-margin-on-amazon-fba?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) - **40%+ net margin:** possible, but uncommon and often associated with unusually strong brands, low competition, or repeat-purchase products. ([The FBA Guys](https://thefbaguys.com/blog/how-to-calculate-amazon-fba-profit-margin?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) A useful sourcing rule many FBA sellers use: try to keep your **landed cost around 25–30% of the selling price**. For example, a $40 product ideally lands at Amazon costing roughly $10–$12 before Amazon fees and advertising. The biggest mistake is looking only at **gross margin**. A product showing 60% gross margin can end up at 10% net after Amazon fees, PPC, coupons, returns, and inventory costs. A theme alone does not guarantee a higher conversion rate—product photography, pricing, reviews, shipping clarity, and checkout experience often matter more—but the right theme can make those things easier to execute. ([Uxitt](https://www.uxitt.com/blog/shopify-theme-ux-comparison?utm_source=chatgpt.com), [Uxitt](https://www.uxitt.com/blog/shopify-theme-ux-comparison?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) Here are the strongest Shopify theme choices for a small fashion brand: | Theme | Best for | Why it converts well | Cost | |---|---|---|---| | Shopify Dawn Shopify Theme | New brands, boutiques, lean catalogs | Lightweight, fast, flexible, great starting point | Free | | Prestige Shopify Theme | Premium/luxury fashion | Editorial layouts, large imagery, upscale brand feel | Paid | | Impulse Shopify Theme | Trend-driven fashion, frequent promotions | Strong merchandising, promotional sections, collection pages | Paid | | Broadcast Shopify Theme | Lifestyle brands | Strong storytelling and visual presentation | Paid | | Symmetry Shopify Theme | Growing catalogs | Good navigation, collections, filtering | Paid | ([Shopify Detector](https://shopthemedetector.com/blog/best-shopify-clothing-themes/?utm_source=chatgpt.com), [Shopify Detector](https://shopthemedetector.com/blog/best-shopify-clothing-themes/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) ### My shortlist by store type **1. Starting a boutique with <50 products** - Choose **Dawn** - Spend your budget on: - professional product photography - reviews - size guides - email capture - better product descriptions Dawn is popular because it is lightweight and customizable; it gives small stores a solid performance foundation without a theme fee. ([Uxitt](https://www.uxitt.com/blog/shopify-theme-ux-comparison?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) **2. Selling premium clothing ($100+ items)** - Choose **Prestige** - Best when your brand depends on: - editorial photography - storytelling - a luxury feel - fewer, higher-value products ([Shopify Detector](https://shopthemedetector.com/blog/best-shopify-clothing-themes/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) **3. Audio — $60** - Clip-on lav mic for talking while cooking - Optional small desktop mic for voiceovers Good food videos rely heavily on clear explanations and satisfying cooking sounds, so avoid relying only on your phone’s built-in microphone. ([YouTube Chapter Generator](https://chapter-generator.com/blog/youtube-equipment-guide?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) **2. Camera stability — $60** - Full-height tripod for talking shots - Overhead arm for: - chopping - mixing - plating - close-up shots **3. Lighting — $70** - One soft LED light at a 45° angle to your cooking area - Use your kitchen window as free extra light **4. Set styling — $50** - Neutral plates - Wooden cutting board - Clean towels - A few ingredients visible in the background **5. Backup/storage — $60** - Extra phone storage, drive, or batteries/chargers ### Skip these at the beginning - ❌ Dedicated camera ($500+ before lenses/accessories) - ❌ Fancy cinematic lenses - ❌ Expensive editing software - ❌ Green screens - ❌ Multiple-camera setups ### Cooking-channel-specific extras that matter - A small **top-down mount** (probably the biggest upgrade for recipe videos) - A cheap **wireless remote** so you can start/stop recording while your hands are messy - A **shot list** before filming: 1. finished dish beauty shot 2. ingredients 3. prep close-ups 4. cooking process 5. final taste/reaction With $300, the goal should be a setup that lets you publish consistently rather than a studio that looks impressive but slows you down. ([Google Support](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en&utm_source=chatgpt.com)) For a restaurant, the practical focus is usually on making your profile a strong match, building trust signals, and ensuring Google clearly understands your location and offering. | Factor | What it means for a restaurant | What to optimize | |---|---|---| | **1. Relevance** | How well your Google Business Profile matches what someone searches for (e.g., “Thai restaurant,” “brunch,” “pizza near me”) | • Choose the most accurate primary category<br>• Add correct secondary categories<br>• Keep menu, services, attributes, hours, and description complete<br>• Add high-quality food and interior photos | | **2. Distance** | How close your restaurant is to the searcher or the location they searched | • Maintain an accurate address<br>• Make sure your map pin is correct<br>• Keep location information consistent across the web | | **3. Prominence** | How established and trusted your restaurant appears online and offline | • Earn more genuine Google reviews<br>• Respond to reviews regularly<br>• Build mentions/links from local websites, publications, and directories | ([Google Support](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en&utm_source=chatgpt.com)) For most restaurants trying to improve Maps visibility, the biggest controllable levers are: 1. **Optimize the Google Business Profile** - Use the right category (for example, “Italian Restaurant” vs. a vague category like “Restaurant” if Italian is your core offering). - Keep hours, menu links, photos, and attributes updated. 2. **Create a consistent review engine** - Ask happy customers for reviews after visits. - Respond to both positive and negative feedback. - Avoid incentives or fake reviews, which can violate Google policies. 3. **Strengthen local prominence** - Get listed accurately on relevant local sites. - Encourage local press, food blogs, event pages, and community organizations to mention your restaurant. - Keep your name, address, and phone information consistent. One important note: Google does **not** publish exact ranking weights, so there is no confirmed “#1 secret trick” or fixed formula. ([Google Support](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en&utm_source=chatgpt.com)) A restaurant that is highly relevant but far away may lose to a closer restaurant; a nearby restaurant with weak information and few trust signals may also lose. ([Google Support](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en&utm_source=chatgpt.com)) A practical priority order for a restaurant would be: 1. Fix Google Business Profile accuracy and categories 2. Build steady, authentic reviews 3. Add fresh photos/menu updates regularly 4. Build local authority through mentions and links ([Google Support](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en&utm_source=chatgpt.com)) | https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en&utm_source=chatgpt.com | Tips to improve your local ranking on Google - Google Business Profile Help | Google Support | https://maps.googleblog.com/2010/12/how-local-search-ranking-works.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com | Google Maps local ranking factors relevance distance prominence Google Business Profile | gpt-5-6 |

What you can do with ChatGPT answers
See which products ChatGPT recommends
Ask for the best products in your category at a price point and log every brand in the answer. Run it monthly and you'll see new names come in and old ones drop out.
Track your share of answers
Count how often your brand appears across 50 questions each month. Going from 3 answers to 9 is a result you can show your team or a client.
Find the pages ChatGPT cites
Every source has its link, title and site name. Group them by site across all your questions. The sites that keep coming up are where to get reviewed or listed.
Learn the search words ChatGPT uses
The search query column shows what ChatGPT typed into the web. For a Shopify theme question it searched 'best Shopify themes fashion store conversion rate Dawn Prestige Impulse 2026'. Those words are worth using in your own titles and posts.
Check your app's reputation
Ask about your app by name every week. If the answer starts mentioning a bug you fixed or a price you changed, you'll catch it early.
Rewrite listings in buyers' words
Answers explain why a product gets picked, such as a comfortable fit or long battery life. If ChatGPT praises a rival for something your product also does, say it plainly in your bullet points.
